Five restaurants with sea view on Tenerife

September 16, 2021

Enjoy a meal outside? Naturally we only do this when the sun is out. Unfortunately we haven’t had the best of summers here in Belgium.  But on Tenerife, the European sun destination with an average temperature of 20°C, you can eat outside year-round. There’s a reason why Tenerife is considered the perfect winter destination. And what is the perfect spot to soak up those rays? On a terrace with a view, of course! Because even when it’s cold back home the terraces on Tenerife are as busy as ever. Here’s a list of Tenerife’s most remarkable restaurants by the island’s tourist service.

Our culinary journey starts in the south of Tenerife, where most beaches are located and where tourists can choose from a wide selection of terraces with sea view. From Costa Adeje near the adorable village of La Caleta we travel clockwise along the coast and settle on a sun-drenched terrace in the north. Vamos!

Live music and tasty desserts at La Torre Del Mirador

Located in the unique surroundings of Playa Del Duque in Costa Adeje, restaurant La Torre Del Mirador is our first stop. With the Atlantic Ocean just a stone’s throw away, this terrace affords a spectacular view of the island La Gomera. The menu carries wonderful dishes that combine the Canarian, Spanish and international kitchens. Moreover, there’s live music every night in the piano bar. The outside area consists of several terraces and salons, each in their own style that suits the Canarian house where the restaurant is located. The desserts are nothing short of spectacular. Be sure to try the crème caramel and tiramisu for a true taste sensation.

Fresh fish at La Vieja

Just west of Playa del Duque, in the small and welcoming village of La Caleta, is where you will find La Vieja. This iconic restaurant is located in an old house with large open spaces and a wonderful terrace with a breathtaking sea view where you can savour the occasion until the wee hours. La Vieja offers local gastronomy of the highest quality in a traditional maritime restaurant that sources its fish directly from local fishermen. Unsurprisingly, fresh fish is one of the main attractions of this restaurant and an absolute must if you decide to have dinner here. The speciality of the house is the Sama roquera, a kind of red sea bass that is common in the waters around Tenerife. The fish is fried and served with the head. Bon appetit!

Sipping wine at sunset in Rosso sul Mare

Also located in La Caleta, Rosso sul Mare was established in 2006 by a young couple that had always had a passion for the catering industry. They decided to open a restaurant and wine bar where guests can enjoy the sea and watch amazing sunsets. The restaurant offers a refined cuisine with Italian influences and all dishes are prepared with local products to cater to gourmets! The seafood risotto and the tuna carpaccio in particular are absolutely scrumptious. Rosso sul Mare and La Vieja are in close proximity to each other, making it possible to visit both in one night.

Gazpacho with a view at Mirador de Garachico

The name says it all: Mirador de Garachico treats you to a wonderful view of Tenerife’s northwest coast. This restaurant in the charming little town of Garachico spoils its guests with a contemporary kitchen that uses mostly local products. The menu comprises surprising compositions with a twist from the local chef. For instance, gazpacho is famous all across Tenerife but nowhere as good as in this restaurant. The dish is served with melon and apple, resulting in a fresh taste sensation.

Romantic conclusion of your visit at Terrazas del Sauzal

In the northwest of Tenerife, halfway between Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz, lies El Sauzal. This tranquil and charming little village offers exceptional views of the Teide and the ocean. Restaurant Las Terrazas del Sauzal also affords a wonderful panoramic sea view and is therefore a must on this list. The restaurant is housed in a remarkable historic building dating back to the 17 th century and serves a modern kitchen with traditional flavours. Moreover, all vegetables and some of the fruit are grown in the restaurant’s own garden and vineyard. All day long you can drop by for a drink and a nibble, from breakfast to diner, including brunch, but the idyllic sunset truly takes the cake.
